The history of the Holiday Inn Hotels began in August 1952
in Memphis, with a small property of 120 rooms. It was an
idea of Kemmons Wilson, as a result of some bad vacations
that they had in 1951.
Based on that experience he thought that the hotel industry
was ready for new ideas, so he decided to build a hotel that
offered service facilities that he couldn’t find.
In 1980, don Augusto Rodríguez Lacayo initiated the
construction of his dream. To make it possible, he integrated
a group of persons, which helped him with his project.
During this adventure, he found the property where the hotel
is today, but because of the dimensions of the lot, he took
the opportunity of buying other lots close to that property.
The beautiful view of the Parque Morazán and the architectural
structure makes of this hotel unique. It combines the Costa
Rica of the past with the Costa Rica of the future.
The inauguration party was celebrated in February 15th, 1986
and it was a big success.
