Transitarte
Transitarte is one of the most important cultural festivals in Costa Rica! The Department of Cultural Services performed this festival each year in four of the main parks capital, in the summer season.
These events take place in the following locations:
* Parque Morazan. Avenue 3, 5 and 7 streets, in front of the Holiday Inn San Jose Downtown
.
* Park Garden of Peace. Avenues 3 and 7 Calles 7 and 9, compared to Metal Building.
* Park Spain. Avenues 3 and 7, 9 and 13 streets, in front of the INS.
* National Park. Avenues 1 and 3, Streets 15 and 19, compared to National Library.
Objective:
The festival includes artistic activities, literary, recreational, artisanal, audio-visual, culinary and sporting events during a weekend, free of charge to the general public.
Description:
Activities are carried out from 10:00 a.m. To 10:00 p.m. , allowing the public and artists will have the opportunity to meet, share and participate in the creative process. Each Park emphasizes different things, however all the joins a single purpose: Transitarte.
Art exhibitions include: Traditional handicrafts and novel techniques of presenting diverse art.

Costa Rica Independence Day - September 14
On September 14th at 9: 00 a.m., the official act of commemoration of the date of independence begins at the foot of the national monument, in National Park, with the participation of municipal authorities, the three powers of the Republic: legislative, Executive and Judicial, diplomatic corps, students and special guests. The torch of independence is then received at the Central Park of San Jose, where a cauldron is lit with the fire of independence. At 6: 00 p.m. The national anthem of Costa Rica is sung with the participation of municipal authorities, the Ministry of public education, students and residents of the Capital. Subsequently the torch continues its route towards the city of Carthage.

Patron Saint Day - March 19th
March 19 is the day of Saint Joseph, patron saint of the worker. There is a traditionally held a mass in commemoration of St. Joseph the Worker in the Metropolitan Cathedral, followed by a variety of cultural activities and artistic shows with the participation of groups that offer a variety of entertainment.

Festival of Light - Christmas Period

The Festival of Light originates in 1996, when the municipality of San Jose organized the first parade of floats and of the best bands of the country, that all along its route by the Paseo Colón avenue and the second, give both Costa Ricans and visitors a great spectacle of color and joy, in the framework that Christmas is celebrated in this activity. The steady climb in the quality, beauty and the glare of the national Festival of Light, have found that this has already become an inseparable and essential activity of the festive season. One of the most popular events of the year. Due to the popularity of this event, the Municipality of San Jose, has expanded its offering to the public by creating a street parade that precedes the parade of the night.

Holy Week (Easter Week) - Semana Santa
During Holy Week, the Metropolitan Curia, perform processions; and other live performances of the most prominent scenes from the life and passion of Christ. These representations involve a large number of participants, and a mix of professional actors, municipal officials and parishioners. The processions occur in the main streets of San José and their start points and/or culmination of these are the five main churches of the catholic center of the Canton: Metropolitan Cathedral, Church of La Merced, the Church of Carmen, Church of the Soledad and the Church of the painful.
